Do you struggle to understand WHEN or WHY someone is being sarcastic? Do you wish you could be more sarcastic, but don't know what to say? Then this episode is for you! I'll explain everything and We'll look at some common phrases you might hear when someone is being sarcastic. British people are quite famous (or infamous😬) for their sarcasm, so I have quite a lot of experience.😎 These phrases are most likely to be used when someone has just stated the obvious, or just said something that we already know about.  Content warning: There is a little swearing in today's episode😉. Have a great week! Today's vocabulary You don't say! No shit Sherlock! Well I never! Well I never did! Aren't you clever! These statements can all be used in the same way for very similar situations. I would say, generally, sarcasm is not a good idea in a business environment and is usually used with friends and family. However we acknowledge that some people are 'sarcastic people' which means they use sarcasm frequently and in almost any situation. Additional Vocabulary mansplaining - a recent addition to the dictionary, this describes a situation where a man re-explains something a woman has just said. It can also describe situations when men with less knowledge explain ideas to women with more knowledge on that subject. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Mansplaining it ballooned into a whole thing - we can use 'ballooned' in this way when something starts small but grows, 'exploded' is also common for this sort of sentence heads up - a statement meaning 'beware'
