In this episode, we'll be connecting with Tarence Rice, a current Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. student at Rice University. Tarence is a Detroit native and HBCU alumni having previously obtained his bachelor's in electrical engineering from Tennesse State University.  During the show, he covered what led him to pursue a Ph.D., what resources are available for BIPOC students to fund graduate studies, and what's on the horizon for Drone research and development. As always, we also covered this week's set of opportunities for BIPOC students in the Level-Up!-Design / Internal Content Intern @ TeslaInternship Location:  Fremont, CALink: https://bit.ly/3jo91mTFall Co-op Intern - Sales Strategy and Operations @ Salesforce Program Locations: San Francisco, CALink: https://bit.ly/3qvIBkLIntern - Business Development Analyst, Partnerships @ WishInternship Location: RemoteLink: https://bit.ly/3w1g8V6-Dream Shakerz IGLink: https://www.instagram.com/dr3am_shakerz/

Om Podcasten

Welcome to the Dream Shakerz Podcast, our weekly show that covers technology, venture capital, and professional development from the vantage point of an ex-banker whose since switched to overseeing operations at a startup and a former management consultant whose in the midst of transitioning to graduate school to study human-computer interaction and design. As young black men, we realized that there was a void in regards to content creators who came from impoverished backgrounds but have also found success in professional spaces while staying true to who they are as people. We want to inform you, our audience, that your beginnings should not rule out certain career paths and that professional success doesn't necessarily mean you have to cut off all cultural ties. Given our success in plotting a course from public housing units in the Bronx to programs at Harvard, we believe we can effectively speak to this need.
