002: Lowland League chairman George Fraser on the juniors becoming part of the pyramid

Down The Divisions - A podcast by FortyFour Creative

George Fraser isn't only general manager at Lowland League side BSC Glasgow. He's also chairman of the Lowland League itself and right now is the man behind the West Region Scottish Junior Football Association's ground-breaking move into a new West of Scotland League setup.Tuesday's deadline saw all 68 teams in the existing structure sign up to the proposals, which will see them sit alongside the East of Scotland and South of Scotland Leagues in Scotland's sixth tier.On Episode Two of Down The Divisions George outlines just how the new structure will work, the reasons behind it and why he believes it will be good for the game. Then, with his BSC hat on, he tells Gareth and Paul about the chance moment he was invited to get involved at the club, the continued battle to find a home ground - and why he hardly slept a wink the night before their Scottish Cup fifth round game with Hibs.As clubs in the SPFL Championship, League One and League Two prepare to vote on whether their seasons should end now, there's also a look at the latest on the coronavirus and its impact on Scottish football. Please do get in touch with your thoughts on what George had to say and whether you think the new setup is a good idea. If you have suggestions for guests, subjects or anything else then it would be great to hear from you as well. Contact us through Twitter, Facebook or email [email protected].
