172- Virgil’s Aeneid, Held as the Apex of Western Literature (Free)

The Aeneid is held up as the best of western literature and yet is no longer part of the learning curriculum in the west. It is an epic poem that relates how Rome was founded which almost no one is aware of these days. The hero is the Trojan Aeneas and his descendants are Romulus and Remus. This story is bedrock for the modern era in the west.
