Laura’s bespoke screen-prints have been seen at Heals Tate YSKP John Lewis, Ikea, Eye Eye I Mawuena Kattah, Bliss home, Cove Park Northern Monkey to name a few. http://www.lauraslater.co.uk/projects/laura-slater-x-bliss- Take Aways 1.The print room is more than the printing, it’s the mixing 2.Doing local fairs helps you grow as much as trade fairs, don’t underestimate them 3.These shows can lead to bigger shows in London etc 4.As a business owner we put too much pressure on ourselves to do it all. 5.Raising your bar and up levelling means outsourcing, this is generous, you’re giving others business and 6.Schedule in some time to percolate creative ideas and new technique’s 7.It’s ok to want to slow down and go against the grain, as designers we have that inner intuition follow your unique take on your craft 8.If being with people, working with others ie lecturing at uni, running workshops or helping your local community is important to you, make sure you schedule this is into your business now, don’t wait until you’ve achieved X or Y or, you’re ready now, you will find it will help your business more in terms of inspiration and motivation too! 9.Working sustainably as a small studio is complex and tough to work out what’s ok with you, sometimes that will mean the local business you’re using will outsource too, but remember you’re doing your bit. 10. Collaborations are powerful for your business but also for you as an artists that support is so vital for growth 11.Remember Brands are a person, this can get forgotten in the noise of the internet so it's important to stick to your core values as a business and it will be noticed further down the line.
