Based on H.G. Wells' story, "The Time Machine" from 1960 is a first rate science fiction movie. Director George Pal is a master of creating films that nourish the imagination. Arnold Leibovit's documentary The Fantasy Film Worlds of George Pal captures the innovative talent of the Academy Award winning Mr. Pal. H. George Wells played by Rod Taylor has constructed a beautiful time machine and is prepared to travel into the future. George is tired of the present time and wants to use the fourth dimension to pursue what he hopes is a better future. The film's time machine is a classic movie property. George does travel ahead eventually to October 12, 802,701 where he encounters the Eloi and then the Morlocks. He further learns of past world wars that have led to their current condition. Cast members Alan Young as best friend Filby, Yvette Mimieux as the beautiful Eloi-Weena, Sabastian Cabot as Dr. Philip Hillyer and others make this a timeless adventure that we love.
