"Taxi Driver" from 1976 is a film noir drama set in New York City with some foreboding scenes occurring at night and in the rain. Director Martin Scorsese created a movie that is a success both critically and financially. Paul Schrader wrote the movie. Bernard Hermann did the score, his very last film before passing away prior to the film’s release. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, Best Picture, Best Actor (Robert De Niro), Best Supporting Actress (Jodie Foster) and Best Original Music Score. The film did not win in any of these categories. Robert De Niro is Travis Bickle the former Marine who struggles to adapt to the city, Jodie Foster as the 12 year old Iris, Harvey Keitel as Sport the street smart brothel owner, Cybill Shepherd plays Betsy and Albert Brooks is Tom who works with Betsy in Presidential candidate Senator Palantine's, played by Leonard Harris, New York City office. Also included in the excellent cast is Peter Boyle as Wizard and Richard Higgs as the Tall Secret Service Man. We hope you enjoy "Taxi Driver".
