Donald Trump rally underway in Arizona

Checkpoint - A podcast by RNZ - Fridays

The swing state of Arizona is the object of both presidential wanna-bes affections. Democrat hopeful Kamala Harris did her courting earlier in the day in the sun belt city of Phoenix. Joe Biden won Arizona in 2020 for the Democrats, only by 10,000 votes though. It was the first time the Democrats have taken it out since the 1990's. It's a state that shares hundreds of kilometres of its border with Mexico, so immigration is a biggie for voters. With polling still neck and neck, this double header shows just how important the grand canyon state is to both candidates. Corin Dann spoke to Lisa Owen from the ground at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona where republican candidate Donald Trump's rally is getting underway.
