The Primal Podcast - A podcast by Rina Ahluwalia - Sundays

B1 vitamin deficiency is an underrated yet overlooked condition that can lead to serious chronic disease. In this interview with Elliot Overton, we discuss vitamin B1 Thiamine and why the carnivore diet may not fix all health conditions. What is vitamin B1 (Thiamine)? B1 is a very important vitamin that regulates energy metabolism, it's important for brain health, memory, cognition and neurological function. Typically we do not hear about the importance of B1 for overall health, rather the focus is on B group vitamins and B12. Why is B1 deficiency so important, and how to treat it? A deficiency in B1 can cause some major side effects, the main one being fatigue. It can also cause brain fog, peripheral nerve dysfunction, and brain diseases like Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's and other neurological diseases.  The best way to treat it is through supplementation of high-dose vitamin B1. Elliot discusses what to look for regarding quality. Is the Carnivore Diet the best diet for health? Elliot Overton believes the carnivore diet is great for overall health, but may not treat serious underlying micronutrient deficiencies that may have been present for years. The carnivore diet is great as you get most of your nutrients from fatty meats, eggs, seafood and butter. However, if you still don't feel 100% after a carnivore diet or lion diet, further investigation may be needed.
