Ivy Mix: Slinging spirits and smuggling mezcal

For Ivy Mix, it all started with an outsized bar tab in Guatemala … and a stint spent smuggling mezcal across the border. Today, she is one of the most celebrated bartenders in the country. Co-owner and head bartender of the Latin-inspired Leyenda on Smith Street, Mix is also the co-founder of Speed Rack, an all-female bartending competition designed to highlight up-and-coming women in the cocktail industry that has raised more than $1 million for breast cancer research over the past decade.
