S4:7 EP49: How Agatha Christie Saved the Latin Mass

Born of Wonder - A podcast by bornofwonder

Categories:

Back in 1971 Agatha Christie, along with many other writers, artists, and intellectuals (some Catholic, many not), signed a letter defending the traditional Tridentine Mass ('the Latin Mass') on the basis of its cultural contribution to Art and the Dignity of the Human Spirit. What can this letter and the surrounding conversations teach us today, as we yet again find ourselves in a state of liturgical confusion? We're staying out of the politics and the drama and exploring the BEAUTY of the Mass. We'll learn about the famous 'Agatha Christie indult' and Katie shares the incredible impact the traditional Mass has had on her personally. Lots of incredible music from a recreation of a High Latin Mass in Paris throughout.    ---- www.bornofwonder.com  Leave a review for the podcast on iTunes and leave a star rating on Spotify!    Support the podcast on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/bornofwonder?fan_landing=true   -----   "How Agatha Christie Saved the Latin Mass" https://www.bornofwonder.com/home/how-agatha-christie-saved-the-latin-mass   'The Agatha Christie Indult' https://web.archive.org/web/20161020002716/http://www.institute-christ-king.org/uploads/main/pdf/england-statement.pdf    Louis Vierne: Messe Solennelle, Opus 16 - A Recreation of a Traditional Latin Mass at Saint-Sulpice Sunday of the Resurrection https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mQOCh-WS2CV8_yLUTeLweXL5BPnRloGME    "A Light that Shines in the Darkness" https://www.bornofwonder.com/home/a-light-that-shines-in-the-darkness    "Entering Stillness: Rediscovering the Liturgy this Advent" https://www.bornofwonder.com/home/entering-stillness-rediscovering-the-liturgy-this-advent    "Christianity gets Weird"  New York Times  https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/05/08/opinion/sunday/weird-christians.amp.html
