Focus Your Mind On The Menopause

This week Nik is joined by the Red Whale Women's Health team: Dr Lucy Cox and Dr Helen Barnes . They discuss 'Davina McCall: Sex, Mind and the Menopause' which was recently on Channel 4, and the potential impact of a TV documentary trumpeting very early research as a breakthrough. They look at what we do know about  HRT and cognitive function,  clarify the British Menopause Society’s position,  and consider how HRT and testosterone, though very important, may not suit everyone. There's also the usual look at the medical news headlines and the week in daytime TV.Twitter: @BoggledDocs Instagram: @BoggledDocs#BDdoseEmail:       [email protected] from the Women’s Health course (someone gets a fit of the giggles):https://twitter.com/nikkendrew/status/1337328975878696961?s=21Lucy song choice:Cabaret - Liza Minnelli https://open.spotify.com/track/7AFy1aN1RQVgGOXzCtrK87?si=7SgLs0jcS9GeTkE7nPM-IA&context=spotify%3Asearch%3Alife%2520is%2520a%2520cabaret%2520%2520Helen’s song choice:Tonight Belongs To You-  The cast of Netflix’s ‘The Prom’ https://open.spotify.com/track/2nGX74qdw2lLaNhBIC5ftf?si=IatTlYCdTFWqEgBcGgD_SA&context=spotify%3Asearch%3Atonight%2520belongBMS comment on Channel 4 programme: Davina McCall: Sex, Myths and the Menopausehttps://thebms.org.uk/2022/05/bms-comment-on-channel-4-programme-davina-mccall-sex-myths-and-the-menopause/Red Whale menopause GEMS https://www.gp-update.co.uk/SM4/Mutable/Uploads/medialibrary/HRT-GEMS-May-2022.pdfRed Whale: Menopause, HRT and cognitionhttps://www.gp-update.co.uk/SM4/Mutable/Uploads/medialibrary/Menopause-HRT-and-cognition-May-2022.pdfUpcoming Red Whale Women’s health events: Menopause Course                                                       20 May 2022Women’s Health Course                                             29 June 2022Contraception and sexual health course           14 July 2022To book:https://www.gp-update.co.uk/webinarshttps://www.gp-update.co.uk/online-courses?tabFocus=tab1DISCLAIMER: The content in the podcast is not intended to constitute or be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatTwitter: @BoggledDocs Instagram: @BoggledDocs #BDdose #BDRadarSend us a voice note: https://www.speakpipe.com/BoggledDocs Email: [email protected]:https://linktr.ee/BoggledDocs DISCLAIMER: The content in the podcast is not intended to constitute or be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
