A Tale of Two Summits / A Bad Ass Boomer Biker

Bike Talk - A podcast by BikeTalk - Fridays

Former Editor in Chief of Bicycling Magazine Peter Flax compares the October 15-17 California Bicycle Summit the to the right wing, anti-road calming October 5th "Keep LA Moving" conference-- featuring John Forester, the "godfather*" of vehicular cycling, who opposes bike infrastructure. Flax calls it a "shame" how KLAM's organizers use 89 year old Forester to prove that even some cyclists oppose safe streets infrastructure. Peter also points out that NYC's moving in the right direction on safe streets infrastructure, and if we organize the "right kind of pushback to the John Russos of the world," we could have the same thing. John Russo is one of the organizers of the KLAM conference, who tweaks data to show Venice's protected bike lane is more dangerous than without. *Check out Peter's Q&A with John at: https://medium.com/@peterflax/a-sunday-conversation-with-john-forester-f997e053d0db Also, veteran cyclist Joni Yung calls in.
