Te Pāti Māori co-leader Rawiri Waititi will not be referred to the Privileges Committee, but will face consequences after appearing to breach a suppression order in Parliament last week. The House today voted to suspend Waititi. That means he can't come to the debating chamber, or vote, for the next 24 hours. Freedom NZ and Destiny Church have made it clear they will be disrupting other political parties activities, especially in South Auckland. When it happened last weekend to Chris Hipkins most commentators were of the "it's part of the election process" opinion, yet after Christopher Luxon's press conference was interrupted it seems the opinion of some, including the Prime Minister. has changed to this being an issue to hinder the democratic process. So which is true? Tonight we speak to Simon Wilson about this and get his take on the idea of free expression versus hindering the democratic process. National has hinted at their tax policy which they are releasing tomorrow but looking at what they are saying today, there seems to be some things we know already. No tax on charities or churches, No help for beneficiaries and tax increases on some areas to pay for their cuts in others. Let's speculate together tonight.
