#BHN Nobby Clark's attempt to hinder the use of Te Reo in Invercargill

#BHN Big Hairy News - A podcast by Blindfish Media

Invercargill Mayor Nobby Clark is attempting to put in place new bylaws not allowing bilingual naming of civic buildings unless the Māori words relate to a building's purpose. This means that using metaphors or words that have a symbolic meaning should not be allowed. It seems to be a clear attempt to control and dissuade the use of Te Reo by a Mayor who has form in racist rhetoric. The council was held to account by former Invercargill Deputy Mayor Toni Biddle where, ironically, all she was arguing was to allow the democratic process to continue as it currently stands.
