Cabinet has approved a draft of legislation designed to fix the troublesome Holidays Act. Thousands of employers have had to pay, or are still arranging to pay, billions of dollars in back pay due to problems with applying the act for years. The government says it has reached a "milestone" now the exposure draft of the bill is ready to go out to consult on. A new law was meant to be in place at least two years ago. Finance Minister Nicola Willis stands by the Government’s decision to invest billions in transport, even as costs for New Zealanders rise. Over the next four years, road tolls, vehicle licensing, and road user charges will increase to help fund a record $32.9 billion investment in state highway improvements, public transport, and pothole prevention. Businesses are closing at a record rate under this Government when you look at year on year results. Tourists looking to visit NZ are going to be hit with a three fold increase in the costs of a visa to come spend their tourist dollars. ================================== Come support the work we're doing by becoming a Patron of #BHN www.patreon.com/BigHairyNews Merch available at www.BHNShop.nz Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/BigHairyNews Follow us on Twitter. @patbrittenden @Chewie_NZ
