Before They Were Famous - A podcast by Michael McCrudden

Dayvon Daquan Bennett born August 9, 1994, known professionally as King Von, is an American rapper and songwriter. He is currently signed to Lil Durk's record label, OTF - Only The Family. Naming what’s only your sophomore studio album after LeBron James takes some stones. I mean those are some pretty lofty expectations that you’re reaching for right off the bat, comparing your own greatness to the level of excellence that LeBron displays on the hardcourt day in and day out. And yet, that’s exactly what Chicago-born rapper King Von did after his album LeVon James dropped earlier this year and made huge waves in the rap game. In fact, my man-made such an impact that even LeBron’s son, Bronny Jr. was bumping Von’s music inside of their LA home. This 26-year-old rapper has never lost touch with his roots and in fact, right before the entire world came to a stand-still thanks to COVID-19, King Von was in the middle of the “PTSD” tour with G-Herbo, his childhood friend that grew up with him on the South Side of Chicago. Coming-up up on those mean streets, King Von was no stranger to problems of the legal variety. In fact, he’s spent his fair share of time locked up over the years, including two years when he was still a teenager! But all that time in jail gave him some much-needed perspective which he has transformed into a thriving career as an up-and-coming rapper.
