Back Of The Net - The AFC Bournemouth Podcast - A podcast by Back of the Net - The AFC Bournemouth Podcast

It's a phrase that many of us will have heard recently from our partners about not putting that shelf up despite having lots of time on our hands - but it very much has been a case of "all talk - no action". With no recent let-up in the spread of Coronavirus, sport has very much ground to a halt, and despite there being a fair bit of conjecture about the Premier League season, our thoughts on football have all very much taken a back-seat as everyone aims to comply with the essential government guidelines to prevent further spread of Covid-19! In this podcast, we bring you three audio excerpts from recent Youtube chats. These include the first of our new regular live sessions, which in broadcast after the Clap For Carers every Thursday at 8pm). This week it featured Sam Davis, Jeff Hayward, Neil Dawson, and Peter Rutzler from The Atheltic. We also chat with former Echo editor and author of The Fall and Rise of AFC Bournemouth book - Neil Meldrum. We talk about his time covering the club, the media ban faced by the Daily Echo, the cynicism after the Sport 6 takeover, the moment when Jeff Mostyn faced-off with Gerald Krasner. Plus, in a special interview, we spoke with former AFC Bournemouth midfielder Matt Holland about his time at the Cherries. We discuss the moment he signed for the club, the Great Escape season, THAT night at the Winter Gardens... and also, his subsequent permanent spell at the club - including the the responsibility of being a young captain, the team-mates that never quite made it, his thoughts on Mel Machin, plus his relentless fondness of the club throughout the later years of his footballing career.
