If you happen to be at international sporting event, and there is Australian team, chances are you are likely to hear this chant. A source of pride, and embarrassment, it is equally emblematic. In this episode, we talk to Angela, who worked at the biggest international sporting event of all - the Olympics. We spoke to her about her experiences before the Tokyo Olympics, and we were eagerly awaiting to have her back on to talk about Australian sport. We were lucky enough to talk to her whilst in Australian quarantine. She reflects on her experiences at the Olympics and Paralympics, what it was like working with multilingual communication teams, what she learned from other cultures, and what she learned about herself. Angela shares some of her insights as a language learner, and maybe even more importantly, a cultural learner, and how this has changed her outlook on life. And of course, people requesting her to perform this quintessential Australian chant, at what was a very different Olympics.
