EP 46: Malaka

Australians Teach English - A podcast by Australians Teach English - Mondays

This week as always, we're talking a lot of malaka. But we hope you might learn something in the process! It is a special episode, because we have a special guest on the show, the Lord Mayor of Darwin, Kon Votskalis. Greek born, he speaks multiple languages and is now trying his hand at Chinese. Representative of many Australians, we talk about his journey and how he came to be such a successful member of the Australian community. He tells us about the different immigrant influences on Australia, and Australian culture. In particular, he has a wealth of knowledge on the Greek history in Australia. Darwin is an extremely beautiful and multicultural place. We discuss the many festivals, places to visits and things to do in Darwin, The Top End and the Northern Territory. As Lord Mayor, he is obviously very proud of his community. But it definitely isn't malaka. I lived there for four years or so. It is one place everyone definitely should visit in Australia. For six months of the year, it is paradise. So enjoy! You never know, you might just learn something from three malakas having a conversation!
