William Whipple was a signer of the Declaration of Independence from what is now Kittery, Maine. He was a representative of the colony of New Hampshire. A ship captain in the “Triangle Trade,” a local businessman with his brothers, a legislator, and a judge, William played an important role in the founding of the United States and was well-respected by his contemporaries.
