When we think about creating new habits, we naturally tend to focus our attention on our behaviors and actions.  But each of us also have mental habits, thoughts that we have thought repeatedly and often, sometimes for years or even decades of our lives. The more we think the same thought, in fact every time we think the thought, the deeper and more efficient our neural pathways to that thought become—making our most repeated thoughts easy to think and easy to believe and more and more automatic. In order to change our lives, we have to identify and replace our unproductive thought patterns and create new thought habits.
