Perché soltanto in Italia non è ancora scoppiato il caso degli abusi nella Chiesa cattolica? Perché il sistema di copertura degli abusatori è ancora in piedi ed efficace, coinvolge decine e decine di preti e vescovi ed è tacitamente approvato da papa Francesco. Il podcast La Confessione ricostruisce come la Chiesa italiana silenzia le denunce delle vittime, copre i preti sotto accusa e nasconde lo scandalo. E sono loro, i preti, a raccontarlo.“Ho insabbiato questa storia”, dice il vescovo di Piazza Armerina Rosario Gisana, intercettato al telefono mentre parla con il prete accusato di violenza sessuale, don Giuseppe Rugolo, condannato a 4 anni e 6 mesi per violenza sessuale in primo grado a Enna martedì 5 marzo. Per la prima volta possiamo ascoltare direttamente i protagonisti di una vicenda di abusi spiegare come funziona il sistema per insabbiare e depistare, come si usano le risorse della Chiesa per tacitare le vittime e lasciare gli abusatori impuniti. Secondo Gisana, le accuse di violenza sessuale per Rugolo sono un dono di Dio, “per diventare santo”. Antonio Messina è un ragazzo di Enna che per anni è stato abusato da don Rugolo, fin da quando era minorenne. Nel 2014 inizia a chiedere giustizia alle strutture ecclesiastiche, dieci anni dopo arriva la sentenza della magistratura ordinaria. Grazie alla sua denuncia, sono emersi i documenti audio su cui si basa questo podcast: intercettazioni telefoniche e dialoghi registrati dai protagonisti all’insaputa l’uno dell’altro. Possiamo sentire così monsignor Gisana, vescovo tuttora in carica, che propone di comprare il silenzio della vittima con soldi tolti ai poveri della Caritas, e che ammette di usare i fondi dell’otto per mille per sostenere il prete abusatore e mandarlo a Ferrara, al riparo dalle accuse, sempre per occuparsi di ragazzini, con l’appoggio del vescovo locale, monsignor Gian Carlo Perego. La Confessione è un podcast che sviluppa l’inchiesta di rilievo internazionale che conduce ormai da due anni Federica Tourn sugli abusi nella Chiesa e che già ha fatto esplodere il caso del gesuita Marko Rupnik. Federica Tourn ha seguito tutte le fasi dell’inchiesta e del processo, ha intervistato i protagonisti e gli esperti. Con Stefano Feltri e Giorgio Meletti ha costruito un atto d’accusa che per la prima volta racconta le responsabilità dei vertici della Chiesa italiana e del Vaticano, incluso papa Francesco che ha pubblicamente elogiato il vescovo insabbiatore Gisana. Per sapere di più segui e sostieni la newsletter Appunti La produzione di questo podcast è sostenuta dalle abbonate e dagli abbonati alla newsletter Appunti
